Sri Lanka’s legendary and most revolutionary pop duo Bathiya n Santhush (BNS) are to create history yet again through a musical collaboration with Indian pop music queen Asha Bhosle. To date, BNS are Sri Lanka’s first musical act to ever work with a legendary Indian musician of such high caliber.

Ms. Asha Bhosle is to make guest appearances on BNS’ upcoming single ‘Dodona Said’ and a Hindi-language version of their recent hit song ‘Pethu Pem Pathum’. BNS are to record a Sinhalese version of ‘Dodona Said’ for the Sri Lankan market along with a special Hindi version of the song for release in India. ‘Dodona Said’ is a production by Sri Lankan production house and record label Saregama Music. The song is a composition by Visharadh Sri Shyamalangan who also produced past BNS hits such as ‘Kiri Kodu’ and ‘Chandani Payala’. The Sinhalese lyrics for ‘Dodona Said’ were penned by Nilar N Casim, who is one of Sri Lanka’s most acclaimed song writers of the present generation, Nilar has also been the lyricist for all of the above mentioned songs.

Ms. Bhosle’s music career spans over six decades. Beginning her career in 1943, the veteran Indian songstress has done playback singing for over a 1000 Bollywood movies. She is the sister of famed playback singer Lata Mangeshkar. Ms. Bhosle is also is believed to have sung over 12000 song during her career. To date, Ms. Bhosle has sung in over 14 languages and is the first Indian artiste to be nominated for a Grammy award for her work on ‘Legacy’, an album with Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. In India, Ms. Bhosle has been awarded numerous accolades and recognitions. Her most recent achievement was being granted the title of ‘Padma Vibhushan’ by the Government of India on May 5, 2008.

BNS are a household name in Sri Lanka and their music careers span over a decade. The duo have been credited with the achievement of revolutionizing Sri Lanka’s pop music industry and pioneering a truly Sri Lankan brand of pop with global appeal. BNS’ are the first Sri Lankan musical act to release and internationally distributed album and receive overseas awards for their musical talent.

Prior to their collaboration with Ms. Bhosle, BNS also worked with acclaimed Tamil and Hindi playback singer Hariharan for their most recent single ‘Yalpaname’. ‘Yalpaname’ and its music video currently receive heavy airplay on Sri Lankan radio and television.
